An easy, kid-friendly paper craft project
We love finding quick and easy crafting projects that are perfect for keeping the kids occupied for an afternoon. This simpe paper craft project makes use of basic crafting supplies you’re likely to have lying around and the finished bookmarks make lovely gift ideas for Mother’s Day or teacher gifts.
For the bookmarks, you’ll need:
- Coloured card
- Washi tape
- Baker’s twine (yarn or thin ribbon will also do)
- Hole punch
Step 1: Measure out your bookmarks before you cut the card. Ours are 4cm by 10cm.
Step 2: Cut off the four corners to make a nice rounded corner. We’ve used a scissors but if you have a corner punch this would be ideal.
Step 3: Use your hole punch to make a hole in the top middle of each of your bookmarks.
Step 4: Arrange your washi tape in a design on your bookmarks. You can be creative here and make use of the lovely designs and patterns washi tape comes in to really accentuate the plain card. Turn the bookmarks over and trim the overlapping washi tape, cutting it close to the edge of the card.
Step 5: Cut a length of baker’s twine and fold it in half. Thread the two ends through the hole in the bookmark and through the loop of twine to secure it.
Make as many bookmarks as you like in different colours. They would make a lovely gift to accompany a book token.
