I’m forever picking up bits and bobs, pebbles, stones, shells, acorns, pine cones, etc, etc and have managed to build up quite a collection over the years. They’re great for capturing memories and ideal for crafty makes.
Decorating pebbles is one of my favourite things to do. It takes no time, materials are basic and you can be as creative as you like.
- Pebbles, all shapes and sizes
- Paint Marker Pen
1♥ Give your pebbles a quick wash to remove any debris and set aside to dry thoroughly.
2♥ Using your paint marker, doodle/draw on one side of the pebble, being careful not to smudge your work as you go.
Nothing to it! Decorating pebbles is something anyone can do, regardless of age. Just remember to give your paint markers a good shake before you use them and test them out on a piece of paper first.
Please note: Shaking paint markers without the lid on will result in paint splashes ending up everywhere. Note to self, IT’S PERMANENT!!!
Paint markers come in all different colours, and depending on the shade of your pebbles, different colours will work better. Gold and silver work well on dark pebbles, while black looks really effective on pale ones.
If you’re stuck for inspiration, a quick image search for doodles on Google will present you with a whole heap of inspiration.
I drew directly onto my pebbles, but if you’d prefer to sketch your design onto the pebble first, try using a similar coloured drawing pencil.
